It is shown that Siberian pied beetle has fairly wide distribution in territory both forest-steppe forest zones relatively flexible choice nesting habitats. concluded necessary condition for habitat presence trees shrubs with dense tall grasses, indicates stability ecological situation Khentei-Chikoi Highlands.

Phylogeography of a Habitat Specialist with High Dispersal Capability: The Savi’s Warbler Locustella luscinioides
In order to describe the influence of Pleistocene glaciations on the genetic structure and demography of a highly mobile, but specialized, passerine, the Savi's Warbler (Locustella luscinioides), mitochondrial DNA sequences (ND2) and microsatellites were analysed in c.330 individuals of 17 breeding and two wintering populations. Phylogenetic, population genetics and coalescent methods were used...

Artificial eggs of six different colours and control eggs of Bush Warblers Cettia diphone were introduced into nests of Bush Warblers, a host of both Little and Himalayan Cuckoos Cuculus poliocephalus and C . saturatw in Japan. All control (chocolate-brown) and artificial red eggs were accepted; all grey and all white eggs were rejected. The rejection rates of orange, pink and orange spots on g...
متن کاملTerritory Tenure Increases with Repertoire Size in Brownish-Flanked Bush Warbler
Song repertoire size is often cited as a classic example of a secondary sexual trait in birds. Models of sexual selection and empirical tests of their predictions have often related secondary sexual traits to longevity. However, the relationship between repertoire size and longevity is unclear. Using capture-mark-recapture studies in two populations of the brownish-flanked bush warbler Cettia f...
متن کاملAcoustic Identification of Individuals within Large Avian Populations: A Case Study of the Brownish-Flanked Bush Warbler, South-Central China
Acoustic identification is increasingly being used as a non-invasive method for identifying individuals within avian populations. However, most previous studies have utilized small samples of individuals (<30). The feasibility of using acoustic identification of individuals in larger avian populations has never been seriously tested. In this paper, we assess the feasibility of using distinct ac...
